Why Investing in Leadership Training Actually MAKES YOU MONEY. | #MONDAYMAGIC

And the answer is…….. EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT. If you’ve been following me in any capacity, you are probably tired of hearing me say this over and over again. But tired or not, IT’S THE TRUTH. Don’t take it from me, take if from Gallup who has researched employee engagement extensively. Their most recent State of the American Workplace report shows significant positive effects all across business based solely on employee engagement:

Gallup Engagement

And guess what has the biggest impact on your company’s employee engagement? Yep, leaders and managers. Gallup studies show that managers account for 70% of variance in an employee’s engagement – SEVENTY PERCENT! Yet, Forbes reports that 45% of managers have NEVER received any training AT ALL on how to be an effective manager and leader. Something’s wrong here, am I right??

Whether you’re investing in yourself to be a more confident, competitive, and marketable leader as you grow your career OR your company is investing to see increases in your current team’s success and growth – employee engagement is that competitive edge.

Right now we’re seeing that only 1 in 5 employees strongly agree they’re managed in a way that motivates them – and yet we think that management is something our leaders should just naturally be good at? Doesn’t seem to be working out that way.

Only 1 in 5 employees strongly agree that their manager has talked to them about how to reach their goals in the last 6 months, even though data shows that these semi-annual conversations mean your employees are 3.5x more likely to be engaged at work.

Only 1 in 4 employees strongly agree that the feedback they receive from their manager helps them do their work better, while data shows that those who do receive helpful feedback are 2.9x more likely to be engaged at work.

These things are simple to integrate into your management culture, however it does not just come naturally. In fact, research shows that only 1 in 10 current leaders actually have the natural talent to be effective leaders. We need to train, educate, and empower our leaders to become effective managers and to hone their leadership skills as they do any other technical skill.

And that’s where I come in! The Leadership Project is an 11-week online leadership training focused on turning you (or your managers) into strengths-based, engagement-focused, effective leaders, no matter what level they are at currently (entry-level to executive). What’s great with online training is that you and your teams can access the information from anywhere and can reinforce lessons as many times as you’d like. Even better studies show that 95% of respondents described online learning to be equivalent to or superior to in-person courses – so don’t be scared of the online training world.

Whether you’re investing in yourself or your company is investing in your team – you will see leaps and bounds in your ability to attract, engage, and retain top talent after having participated in The Leadership Project. Not only that, you’ll have tangible tools to better motivate your team, lead your team authentically, and focus on accountability AND improving work culture. Did you know that only 40% of employees strongly agree that their manager holds them accountable for their performance goals?! We can definitely bring that number up for your teams!

The best part – you have LIFETIME ACCESS to The Leadership Project so you can come back and refresh your leadership skills time and time again because leadership is a commitment to lifelong learning. And you’ll benefit each and every time we improve the program!
